Health and Safety Policy Statement and Responsibilities
Under s.2 of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 any employer who has five or more employees must produce a written safety policy. The policy must be signed by the senior executive and dated. As it is intended as a living document, it must be reviewed on a regular basis, and revised to account for any changes in the law or in working procedures.

Fire Risk Assessments
Sensible Safety Solutions offer a Fire Risk Assessment service to meet the requirement of The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. The new law applies to all non-domestic premises and places a duty of care on the Employer, the Occupier or the Owner as the Responsible Person. They must appoint a Competent Person whose duty it is to carry out a fire risk assessment of the premises. This legislation recognises that many small and medium sized businesses do not have the resources in time or money to have an employee committed full time to this work and therefore allows for the appointment of third party assistance to complete the Fire Risk Assessment.
Safe Systems of Work
Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) must be prepared to identify the key safe steps employees follow when carrying out their daily tasks. Should the HSE become involved, they will request the SSOW in addition to the relevant risk assessment.
